New Sub-Variant of COVID-19 (JN.1) Confirmed in Nepal

Kathmandu: The Ministry of Health and Population in Nepal has officially confirmed the presence of the new sub-variant JN.1 of COVID-19 in the country. This sub-variant, which has been spreading in several countries in recent weeks, has now been detected in seven samples out of 16 collected from various regions of Nepal and across different age groups.

In response to the confirmation, the Ministry has issued a press statement urging the public to exercise caution and adhere to preventive measures. The key recommendations include avoiding crowds and gatherings, maintaining physical distance, consistently wearing masks, and practicing regular handwashing with soap and water.

As the situation evolves, health authorities will continue to monitor and assess the impact of the sub-variant JN.1 in Nepal, emphasizing the importance of individual and collective efforts in controlling the spread of COVID-19.
